Pretty close to Blind!

Blake had been complaining
that his vision was blurry.
I was slow about getting him an appointment,
but this week he saw the ophthalmologist.
It was surprising to find out that Blake's vision is
20/70 in one eye and 20/200 in the other!
So now Blake is sporting
some very hipster new glasses!
(And he loves being able to see!)

33 years since we got engaged!

Thirty three years ago Harold and I got engaged.
I had been "in love" with him since Jr. High.
We dated during high school and
I wrote him while he was on his mission.
When he got home in December 1979
we started dating again.
FINALLY on March 6, 1981 Harold proposed!
Harold is always very thoughtful and
never forgets this anniversary.
This year he got me roses!
I really have a wonderful husband.

Jr. Jazz Basketball for Blake

 Blake loves playing basketball!
I think it is his favorite sport to participate in!
Sometimes he will go to the gym and just play by himself!

When someone enjoys something so much,
it is a pleasure to watch them!

Woodworking Ben

Between interviews for residencies,
Ben had some free time and did some wood projects.
He is getting pretty talented with his scroll saw!
Here are some of his projects:
 Gorilla puzzle
Pumpkins for Alyse and her friends to decorate
A Table

And Ben's most recent project
The symbol for Medicine

He made them for some of his close medical school friends.

Men of Sparta or MOS

This weekend was the MOS Dance.
The theme was "Thrift Shop."
Blake and his date Katie went shopping together at the D.I.
Blake already had this fantastic suit which
he and his brothers inherited from Grandpa Great.
I think they make a pretty good looking couple!

I Love Religious Art

We went to see the exhibit Sacred Gifts
at the BYU Museum of Art.
Three artists were featured including Heinrich Hofmann.
This is one of my favorite paintings of his --
Boy Jesus in the Temple.
I took my children along hoping
they would love it as much as I did.

Over the years I have tried to share my love of
Religious Art with my family.
I especially love Mormon artists.
One of my favorites is C.C.A. Christensen.
He is best known for his Mormon Panorama—
a series of 22 paintings depicting the history of the Church.
He toured with his huge paintings which were 175 feet long.
I love these paintings.

For Christmas, Brandon had drawn Bryan to give to this year.
For a joke, Brandon got Bryan this picture
which they both think is funny!
It is one of CCA Christensen's!
When I saw it I got so excited,
until I found out it was a joke gift!
In the end, Bryan didn't really want it
and I was thrilled to have it.

Here are a few of CCA Christensen's paintings
about the Book of Mormon:

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Bryan and Sarah came for a Visit

Bryan and Sarah spent Christmas in Las Vegas with the Purcells.
They arrived here just before the New Year.
It wasn't a very exciting time to visit.
They got to join us for such fun activities as:
Putting Christmas Away
Deep Cleaning Dad's Office
Birthday Lunch for Grandma Prince with the Aunts & Uncles
Getting sick and visiting Uncle Roger
Playing lots of new games

These are two of our new favorites!
We did attend the exhibit of
Sacred Gifts at BYU's Museum of Art.
It was a wonderful and spiritual exhibit.
We are so grateful that we had some time to spend
with Bryan and Sarah
and being with our family as we begin 2014!
