With it being Pioneer Day this week,
I thought I would honor my Amazing Pioneer Heritage.
Shortly after Harold & I were married
we discovered some interesting facts about our Genealogy.
One interesting fact was that only there were only
17 families who originally settled Spanish Fork ~
One of those families was the Brockbanks (Harold's family)
and one was the Redds (Lori's family.)
We also discovered that on our Pedigree Chart
when we reached our 32 Great Great Grandparents,
they were all Converts to
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
All but a few had been pioneers that had crossed the plains.
Many had come from the Eastern United States,
but others had come from England, Ireland, Switzerland,
Denmark, South Africa, Australia and Canada.
What an amazing and humbling heritage we have.
The above painting "Last Wagon" was done by Lura Redd
who is also an descendant of Hans Ulrich Bryner.
Hans Ulrich Bryner joined the Church in Switzerland
and came in the Hunt Wagon Train in 1856.
This wagon train was following the Willie and Martin
Handcart Companies and faced
the same severe winter conditions they encountered.
The only difference is the Hans Ulrich Bryner was blind.
A rope was attached to the wagon which he held onto
so that he would not get lost on the long trek to Utah.
If you look carefully at the painting on the left side,
you will see him holding onto the rope.
I am so grateful to those amazing men and women
and children ~ "Blessed Honored Pioneers."
