BYU Thursday's Hero

If you haven't already heard --
Gwen was selected as BYU Thursday's Hero on November 14th
Gwen got to meet Bronco Mendenhall
and the entire BYU Football Team!
The best was hugging Taysom Hill & Kyle Van Noy.
Gwen also got to go down on the sidelines
during the pregame warm up.
The team ran in with the flag Gwen had signed.
More hugs from JD Falslev and Taysom Hill!

Twenty Years in Murray

Twenty years ago today we moved into our home in Murray.
When we bought our home we were very "house poor."
For five years we only had the piano in the living room!
We looked for a long time to find a home in Murray,
since both Harold & I were working in Murray.
When we moved here we only had 3 children -- Ben, Bryan & Brandon
My neighbor across the street seems to take
more pictures of our house than I do.
This one was taken in 2012 and you can see the smoke from
the huge fire that summer near the Point of the Mountain.
This picture with the rainbow was taken soon after
Gwen came home the hospital following her BMT.
This is one of my most favorite pictures.
It was taken in May 2005 right before Ben left on his mission.
This tree is on the east side of our home.
This is the only home that Brad, Blake &
Gwen have ever known.

One of the names for Christ is Shiloh.
I have always felt it was a great privilege to live
on Shiloh Way -- or Christ's Way.

It is my hope that we will still be here on Shiloh Way
in another 20 years!

Fall Ball

Blake went to Fall Ball with his friend Morgan.
I am not prejudice,
but I think he is a pretty handsome young man!

It was especially fun to be with so many friends in his group,
which is not always the case for a Girls' Choice Dance.

Blake the Academic Olympican!

On Wednesday, Blake participated on the Murray's Team
at the Academic Olympiad which was held at Utah State.
There were several portions of the competition
including difficult tests and Q&A competitions.
 The Murray Team did well,
but excelled at the Star Wars Competition
where they had to answer random questions the fastest.
Murray took 1st place and got a sweet trophy.

This is the quote from the school's website:
Congratulations to Murray’s Academic Olympians who finished in first place in “Star Wars” at the Academic Olympiad.  Competing against a number of Utah High Schools at Utah State University, they proved their ability to think on their feet and correctly answer questions in math, literature, science, social studies, and current events.   MHS was represented by Blake Brockbank, Caitlin Coplan, Adam Ebling, LeAnn Lam, Mitchell Larson, Angie Nickerson, Madeline Olsen, Jaxon Roller, Peter Rosen, and Nicole Smith.  In the individual competition, Peter Rosen received first place in the social studies test and earned second place overall.

Blake thought it was kind of funny that the Murray team won
when it was the only team that
didn't "dress up" for the competition.
